EyeCon Nina Q&A part 1!
Here is the first part of the summary I've come up with for Nina's Q&A today from the really crappy audio I recorded.
What’s the worst practical joke you’ve been a victim of?
She thinks everyone here knows the answer to that. Matt Davis is attached to his phone at the hip. She stole his phone one day and it was unlocked and she started tweeting “Nina Dobrev is amazing, it’s such a delight to work with her” on his account.
Who do you think Elena is better with, Damon or Stefan?
She’s biased but, she thinks that Elena is in love with the person that Stefan is, the warm hearted kind Stefan, not the one that wants to kill everybody.
both Elena and Katherine are challenging to play but Katherine has to fight in heels and Elena gets to wear running sneakers.
The most emotional scenes are when anyone dies basically.
most difficult episode to shoot was Masquerade in season 2 because she was in basically every scene as either Katherine or Elena.
favorite episode to film was the Pilot because it was all new and there were no expectations.
She’s arachnophobic. If you were to watch unedited outtakes there would be a lot of “OMG A SPIDER”
are there different flavors of the fake blood? Yes and the one that looks best on camera is really yucky corn syrup red dye and other crap and it’s bad. When she’s playing Elena and they’re forcing her to drink she can be like eww get it away and not have to pretend it’s gross but when she’s Katherine and she’s supposed to be loving it, “that’s the best acting I have to do”
what have you learned from playing Katherine and Elena? you have to make sure you don’t take the death and sadness home with you because it takes a toll on you.
do you have a best friend on the cast?
probably Kayla. but they’re all very very close. She also mentions Candice by name but that’s it.
this season she has more time to do things whereas last season she would just stay home and sleep. There’s so many good restaurants in Atlanta and she has a list that she keeps and says she is, “eating my way through it” keeping track of which are good.
If you were on the Amazing Race who would you want to be paired with and who wouldn’t you want to be with?
She’s never seen it but she knows the premise. She would not want to be with Steven McQueen she loves him but she hates him. “He is so sloppy and just no”. She would probably pick Kayla she’s really driven and determined and athletic.
She didn’t know she would have to play Katherine too when she got the part. She only found out 5 days in advance that she was going to be shooting the part of Katherine for the first time.
If Elena could be a supernatural character for a day, she would choose to be a witch because then she would have superpowers.
Elena is very selfless she puts everyone before her. She thinks Elena is really admirable for how she keeps going on.
She explained how they do vamping(the vampire eyes) They put dots on your face and you shoot the scene and they digitally add it in after, but she feels really silly and not badass and now it’s like “look here I am” because they used to use really uncomfortable red contacts.
her favorite season is season 1.
her favorite quote is “wherever you go there you are”
She and Matt Davis think they should have zombies on the show.
Lots of cheers when she mentioned she was on Degrassi. An older woman said, “congratulations to you for getting out of the lifetime circuit!” she said she did “Too Young to Marry” and her husband on that movie was the hooded guy who tried to kill her at the 50s dance. “Isn’t that how all marriages end up working out?” and he made it out of the lifetime circuit too!
what does she love about acting and why do you love Vampire Diaries. It’s a lot of hard work most people only see the glamorous side. You have to laugh just as hard if it’s 6 in the morning and all you want is to sleep. She has to love it.
She was a daredevil because, “I had an older brother growing up, well I still do!” except now she gets paid to do all the crazy stuff and she gets to look badass doing it!
